From the Minister's
Desk....
First, we should recognize the founder of the church, Jesus Christ. We have never known a man that can do for us what Jesus can. Secondly, the church is the only place a person can get his spiritual needs met. Jesus said, “God is a spirit; and they that worship must worship him in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24) When God made man, he made him in his image, therefore, man is a spirit, his deepest needs are spiritual and only God is able to meet those needs. Thirdly, the church is an organization where God’s people bank together in an effort to do the work that God has given us to do. With an organized effort, we can be more effective. We are to build church buildings and have a teaching ministry. One of the things that is so noticeable about the early church is that it was organized to meet the needs of the people. They put their efforts in one basket. The church is a powerful structure of God. God has chosen us to carry on His work for Him. Fourthly, the church is a place for Christian fellowship. The best friends we have are in the church. Some of the highlights of my life have been with other Christians. When we have sorrow, our Christian friends are there to share it with us. When we have needs, our fellow man is there to help us to have our needs met. The Psalmist said, “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his seed begging bread.” (Psalm 37:25) God’s people always have helped one another. God has a perfect plan for fellowship. Finally, the church is a place for
God’s people to serve Him. Paul in his letter to the Corinthians, I have always thought that it is a great honor to be able to do anything for God. When you stop and think, God could have gotten someone else to do what He is having us to do. I hope as you serve God you will count it all joy to do so. I hope we can work together being faithful to carry out the task that God has given our church today.
